GOLD COAST DEVELOPER SET TO MAKE MORE THAN $43M+

BY POTENTIALLY DESTROYING UNIQUE COASTAL RAINFOREST
Iron Gates Development – time to object yet again!

No it's not 2019 - we're back continuing a 2 decade fight to save the environment from greedy developers who want to destroy our land!

The Iron Gates Development is back “On Exhibition” and open for public submissions again.

We need your help again to state why this development is a bad idea. Stopirongates.org believes that this development is NOT suitable for this site as:

  • The area is of high cultural significance to the Bandjalang people & the wider cultural landscape of the Bundjalung Nation.

  • It threatens our village lifestyle & community atmosphere visitors enjoy.

  • This satellite development is surrounded by highly bushfire prone land which could lead to a catastrophe.

  • The area is prone to flooding & compromises our river quality.

  • The site is home to a vast array of wildlife including koalas.

  • The site is subject to legal & ethical concerns, such as a two million dollar remediation order by the Land & Environment Court.

What has changed now?

Changes to the Planning laws and regulations in the middle of last year allow for an amendment to DA 2015/0096 and it is now classified as a “Concept/Integrated Development”. This means this seven year old DA no longer requires Ministerial approval of a Master Plan. This “new” DA is meant to satisfy the Master Plan requirements but it will be assessed by the Richmond Valley Council and approved or rejected by the Northern Regional Planning Panel. We understand that the Master Plan application by Goldcoral Pty Ltd was withdrawn on 19 July 2021.

Richmond Valley Council (RVC) has released Written Notice that Public Submissions on the Amended DA 2015/0096 Iron Gates Subdivision can be made that the deadline is 11.30 am Sunday 24 October 2021.
